What should I do with my First Trust Bank banknotes?

 

Until midnight on 30th June 2022

You can continue to spend, accept and lodge First Trust Bank banknotes into your bank account as normal. First Trust Bank banknotes will continue to be accepted by retailers, high street banks and the Post Office® until midnight on the 30th June 2022.

After 30th June 2022

After 30th June 2022 any First Trust Bank branch will exchange First Trust Bank banknotes for Bank of England banknotes, or other sterling banknotes of equivalent value, free of charge. There is no time limit on this. Supporting documentation, including proof of identity and address, may be required. Limits may apply.

 

After 30th June 2022 noteholders in the UK can exchange First Trust Bank banknotes for sterling banknotes free of charge at any Post Office® across the UK for two years, until 30th June 2024. Supporting documentation, including proof of identity and address, may be required. Limits may apply.

After 30th June 2024
Any First Trust Bank branch will exchange First Trust Bank banknotes for Bank of England banknotes, or other sterling banknotes of equivalent value, free of charge. There is no time limit on this. Supporting documentation, including proof of identity and address, may be required. Limits may apply.
