iOS is the mobile operating system developed for iPhones and iPads. Device manufacturers regularly update the software and hardware they use. When they do, older operating systems are discontinued, and older software which has become outdated is no longer supported. Depending on the age of the device, you may not be able to update your iOS version as the device is not able to run a higher version. 

At any time, you can check for and install software updates on your device. Go to Settings  > General > Software Update. The screen shows the currently installed version of iOS and whether an update is available. If an update is available, you can choose to install it from this screen.

If you have updated to iOS  14 or above you do not need to do anything more and can continue to use our Mobile app to bank online and authorise online card transactions.

If you have followed the above steps and your device cannot update to at least iOS 14, you will not be able to use the AIB (NI) Mobile App after 25 June to access your accounts, authorise your Online Banking logins and authorise your online card purchases.

There are alternative ways you can access your accounts and authorise transactions:

• Step 2 explains how you can use Online Banking to continue to access your accounts and make payments.
• Step 3 explains how you can authorise online card purchases using alternative methods.

Please take the time to read all of these steps before taking action.

You can use our Online Banking to access the above services from your existing device. This is because the iOS version update only impacts the Mobile Banking App and does not impact your ability to access our Online Banking website.

Our Online Banking website is optimised to work on your device, and you will be asked to use the same Registration Number and Personal Access Code (PAC) you use to access our Mobile App. If you don't remember your Registration Number, you can see this on the Mobile App within Settings  > Profile.

If you currently use our Online Banking service today, you will use our Mobile App to authorise your logins to Online Banking. This will change after 25 June 2024 when your Mobile App will no longer be able to authorise your logins. Please read the section "What do I need to do before the 25 June" below to find out how you can change the way you authorise your logins to Online Banking.

If you do not currently use our Online Banking service, you can find out more information about our service by visiting, aibni.co.uk/bankingonline. To start using Online Banking, please read the section "What do I need to do before the 25 June" below to find out how to set this up.

To use Online Banking you will need to set up an alternative Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) method to authorise your logins. Depending on your circumstances, this will either be a Card Reader or a one-time passcode sent by text message (SMS) to authorise your logins to Online Banking.

If you hold a debit card, you should order a Card Reader now so that you have received it in the post and have set it up prior to 25 June. You can log into Online Banking now (before you unregister the app) and order one under the ‘Services & Settings’ menu. If you made payments to new payees on the Mobile App you will need a Card Reader to make these payments in Online Banking.
  

        Before 25 June 2024 you will need to;

1.       Unregister the AIB (NI) Mobile app from your iPhone or iPad

You can do this by logging into your App. Go to Settings > Security and access > Unregister this device.

2.       Set up an alternative Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) method for logging into Online Banking.

Login to Online Banking and follow the on-screen instructions. You will need to select "Choose another option" to set up an alternative login method other than the Mobile App.

If you use the Mobile App to authorise any online shopping or purchases you make with your AIB card, you need to set up one of our alternative authentication methods. You will need to set this up before 25 June 2024. There are 2 options available.

 Option 1: You can set up a Password for your online purchases. You will use this password along with a one-time passcode we will send to your phone via SMS each time you make a purchase.

You can set up this password now through the Mobile App via the Settings Menu  > Security and access > Password for Online Purchases. You can also set up or reset this password via Online Banking through the Services & Settings Menu > Security & Access > Password for Online Purchases.

 Option 2: If you have difficulty remembering passwords or encounter any issues setting up a password, you can authorise your card transactions using your voice. If you choose this option, you will receive an automated phone call to your home phone number where you will need to use your voice along with your Personal Access Code (PAC) each time you make a purchase.

To set up your voice biometric, call one of our Customer Service Advisers on 0345 646 0304 Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00 (excluding Bank Holidays).

        Before 25 June 2024 you will need to;

1.       Set up your alternative authentication method to authorise online card purchases.

2.       Unregister the AIB (NI) Mobile app from your iPhone or iPad

You can do this by logging into your App. Go to Settings > Security and access > Unregister this device.
